Crown Jewel Adding Hulk Hogan Is The Cherry On Top Of An Embarrassing Week For Wrestling

The following editorial was written by Tyler Treese and does not reflect the opinions of WrestleZone as a whole. We encourage you all to discuss the article in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

In the span of one week, WWE will have doubled down on a business deal with a country that admitted to killing a journalist, constantly refused to actually discuss the decision, taken off two of their biggest stars off the card since they refused to travel to the country, and used a superstar’s life threatening battle with cancer for cheap heat. Oh, and they’re bringing back a disgraced former champion that made racist statements and wound up killing a media outlet that accurately reported on a story.

In other words, it’s just business as usual for World Wrestling Entertainment and Vince McMahon. There’s nothing to really be said here. Being a fan of professional wrestling can be embarrassing at times. Not because the entertainment is scripted or because the storylines can be tailored to be kids, but due to the behind-the-scenes decision making that goes into creating a product that should be one of the finest forms of performance art.

Honestly, it’s fitting that Hulk Hogan will be the host and face of WWE Crown Jewel. It’s one of the biggest, most embarrassing moments in the history of a company filled with hundreds of them. So, why not? WWE clearly has nothing to lose and are basking in every PR nightmare they cause. As long as fans continue to tune in and buy tickets/merchandise then there’s no reason for them to do any better. We ultimately get the entertainment we deserve.
