EXCLUSIVE: Former WWE Star Reviews Raw, Talks UFC , More

Well folks, I am back with my second column and for some weird reason I feel electrified today. I did get the opportunity to watch some of RAW last night and was quite impressed with a couple of the matches.

Cena vs Punk was fairly good considering the “talent” Punk had to work with. Punk is very good with almost everything he does in the ring. Cena does a few moves well and he knows to stick to those few moves. However, Cena’s limited wrestling ability kind of puts a ball and chain on Punk, which is sad. This was a good match at best.

Del Rio was in top form last night as he continues to grow into a huge star in the WWE. Of course we can count on the Rated R Superstar Edge to continue being exactly what he has always been, GREAT. Edge is always a very solid top performer and Del Rio has become a major force to be reckoned with. The former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Del Rio has a plethora of moves that are not only unique but also exciting to watch. This feud I believe will be epic to say the least.

The Women’s match between Eve and Natalya was good. I can see Finlays finger prints all over this match. Natayla was obviously paying more attention to Finlays instruction than Eve did. Not saying Eve did a bad job or anything, I just feel she lags a little bit behind the talent of Natayla at this point in time. That said, it was still a decent match and Eve does seem to get better and better every outing. Thank god for Finlay!

VERY SADLY I missed most of Daniel Bryan vs The Miz. I caught maybe the last few minutes of this match and if the beginning was as good as the end(which I have no doubt it was), then this match was GREAT! The Miz is coming a very long way from when he first came to WWE and gets better and better every week. I still cannot wrap my head around why he is WWE Champion but maybe that has something to do with me never getting to be WWE Champion myself. Daniel Bryan of course is simply one of the very best workers on the planet. I am truly a huge fan of his work. I really hope they keep this feud going and maybe even inject DiBiase into the mix for a 3 way battle. I love it! Someone book this for the REAL wrestling fans.

Orton vs Sheamus was a solid match as expected. Orton is always on his game. Sheamus is a big strong athlete who does very well and looks great, but I do believe the writing is on the wall for Sheamus. I hope I am wrong because I really do enjoy watching him work(obviously not on the same level as Daniels or Orton). I am starting to get the sinking feeling that the WWE does not find Sheamus to be very marketable. Like I said, I pray I am wrong about this one.

Then there was “THE GREAT ONE!” The Rock finally came…lol…back to Monday night Raw. Nothing really new here. Rock looked awesome as always. It was great to hear him perform his catch phrases once again in typical electrifying fashion. Congrats Rock on your return to WWE. I am sure you will electrify Wrestle Mania and the millions and millions of your fans around the world. How you get away with bringing “ATTITUDE” to a boring “PG” show without getting blasted by the office is beyond me. But I will say it was refreshing to see and hear. So, again Rock, congrats to you and PLEASE, after Wrestle Mania in Atlanta, go back to the Hollywood hole you climbed out of!

UFC

I am VERY excited to see the rubber match between Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar at UFC 130. The fight takes place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This should be a scrap for the ages. Both of these athletes are championship material. The UFC in my humble opinion cannot lose in this fight no matter who wins. Both guys are simply amazing and are at the top of there game.

Brock Lesnar as a coach on this coming season of Ultimate Fighter should be incredibly fun to watch. Those at Zuffa and Spike should be very happy with the ratings for this upcoming season. Brock is a draw period. As for Brock VS Dos Santos, Brock has more room for improvement than anyone else solely because he lacks the same king of experience as anyone else in the heavyweight division. He is a prodigy in MMA even though he has already been Champion. If Brock continues to study and learn the game, he will once again dominate.

Cain Velasquez is a fighter who is on a whole other level. A rematch with Brock and Velasquez would be a ratings draw for sure. However, Velasquez vs Dos Santos would be a great fight as well.

EXW Elite Xtreme Wrestling in Phoenix AZ returns tonight. I have formed a tag team with the EXW world heavyweight champion, Derek Neikirk. We are taking on the likes of the Freak Squad(Dom El Bomb and Frenchy Riviera) tonight at Xtreme Tuesday. Time to kick us some Freak squad derriere!

Unfortunately or fortunately depending how you look at it, I did not watch TNA this week. So I have nothing bad to say about Matt Hardy this week. Strictly for a lack of trying on my part. Plus, he did bump the TNA ratings two weeks ago…..RIGHT?
