EXCLUSIVE: We All Need Someone We Can Bleed On

WHEN I HEARD DANIEL BRYAN WAS RETURNING TO WWE…

…I ejaculated. Didn’t mean to. Couldn’t help myself.

WWE brought Daniel Bryan back in a clever way, and being in the main event at SummerSlam is certainly an adrenaline shot of creativity. But with all due respect to ROH marks…I don’t see it. That “best wrestler in the world” nonsense…I don’t see it. Bryan as a main-event wrestler in WWE…I don’t see it. His return made sense within the context of the Nexus angle, but beyond that…I don’t see it. Too small, too blah.

Good decision not turning John Cena. He’s WWE’s cash cow, their merchandise moneymaker. Sad to say we’ve reached a time where T-shirt sales influence booking, but we have. Also, Cena is so dynamic as a babyface and wants to be a babyface (as opposed to the “heel who gets cheered” persona post-nWo babyfaces prefer).

Bad decision beating Nexus. It might have been better to have Bryan rejoin Nexus by way of helping them win at SummerSlam. Maybe Nexus can get their heat back. But SummerSlam seemed far too early to beat them, let alone to have their leader tap. The nWo ran roughshod over WCW for months before even showing any vulnerability. True, Hall and Nash (then Hogan, etc.) were established stars in their own right. Nexus’ members aren’t.

But the question in angles like this is: Can these guys TAKE OVER? Once they get beat, they can’t. Nexus got beat. End of angle. It’s just denouement from here. Getting a bunch of tainted wins on the next night’s Raw didn’t help.
