First I want to say a congratulations to my Wrestlezone colleagues, Mark Madden and Kevin Kelly. They got great compliments from Jim Ross via his blog recently, talking about how much he enjoys reading what they have to say. I have never met Kevin but have never heard a bad thing about his attitude and work ethic. I know he is past it but I enjoyed Kevin's time in the WWE/F. I wish him the best in his position with ROH. I live in Pittsburgh where Mark Madden does his daily radio show. There is never a moment that he is not entertaining and true to what he thinks. You may not like what he has to say but you can't find many out there that compare to his entertainment value and intelligence. I see him every now and again in the media dining room at hockey games and have enjoyed talking wrestling with him.
The following is a few questions in an interview I recently conducted with former WCW star Buff Bagwell.
Tune in to the next Chair Shot Reality show here on Wrestlezone.com and you will hear what Buff has to say on the topics of
- The Nexus angle
- His side of the story on the controversial release from the WWE/F in 2001
- John Cena as the top guy
- Eric Bischoff & Hogan in TNA
- And much much more!
Q: If you could get in the ring with anybody to have match or program with, who would you like to work with?
Buff: I think I could have a great match with Batista if he was still there. I'd love to work him, I can tell by his style we would have good chemistry. Between his size and my size, I work better from that Ricky Steamboat selling point and he works better as the big bag guy. I just think if I could wrestle with him it would be a heck of a match.
Q: Talk about the guys we see each week. What do you think about who is over and not over with the fans?
Buff: I watch the people and who they stand up for, there are not a whole lot that they do. Same old guys, John Cena, Batista was real over when there. Triple H gets a big pop always. I get off on watching the fans cause they know its gotten pretty rough on wrestling and the hardcore fans know that. A lot of guys come out that they don't even stand up for and it totally kills me. I know for a fact that there is something they could do with some of these guys so that people aren't sitting on their hands for an hour and fifteen minutes of a two hour show. Just make it make sense. Put some faces put some stars, rekindle it, shake it up again, let's do it. For some reason nobody has stepped in an done that. When Eric stepped in with TNA, I did think I'd eventually get called and I have not. I did think and do think that he will turn it around down there and I'd like to be part of it. Its just kind of a wild world bro.
Q: Can you talk about your favorite and best times in your career?
Buff: Well obviously I'd have to go with the New World Order. When I watch back, here is a cheap plug coming.... If you got to my website www.therealbuff.com and I got four volumes of my whole entire career and its impressive. I've wrestled 40 dead wrestlers. 40 man. I'm not talking about 40 no name guys, I'm talking Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Bam Bam Bigelow, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude and I can keep on going. It's really unbelievable what has happened but I have wrestled 40 guys that are now gone.
