The RAW Ladder – Ranting, But Not Raving

Ted DiBiase didn’t wrestle on RAW this week, again. Ted DiBiase was involved in another comedy segment with a guest host, again. It’s getting old and tired when the only thing he does is hold his belt and nod at Virgil, and he says he can buy anything he wants. He is good in the ring and on the mic, so why is he stealing Jerry Lawler’s crown? (Ted called IRS, who is Mike Rotunda, “Uncle Irwin”. Mike’s son is NXT Season 2 Rookie Husky Harris, who acknowledged him as his father on camera. So does that make Ted and Harris storyline cousins? Is Ted going to buy Harris his real name back? Or will the writers completely ignore the Money Inc. relationship altogether? Yea probably…) Ted needs to do something and shouldn’t be relegated to the “Carlito” role. Zack Ryder can do stuff like this, and not have it hurt him. It fits his gimmick, and he actually still wrestles.

Speaking of Ryder, the fans did something right and picked him as the Miz’s partner against R-Truth and (fan vote) John Morrison. He could have benefitted from being more involved, but this segment was more about Truth and Miz. Ryder and Morrison could be a good feud to explore, but this part of the show was just to further another feud.

The Divas got voted into a Battle Royal instead of having a 12 Diva tag match or seeing Divas Champion vs Women’s Champion. That last idea could have been interesting if they included the “co-champions”, both Michelle and Layla, against Eve. Most things could have been better than yet another battle royal, but this just seemed lazy and felt like the fans didn’t care what won. The Bellas got eliminated early, Gail and Alicia eliminated each other, Jillian did something stupid and Maryse won. Just like the other twice a month battle royals they have on free TV. Maryse wins, Eve looks mad from outside, other women hold their heads in pain and scowl. It pretty much works for anyone, just replace Maryse with Beth or Michelle and Eve with Mickie or Melina. The WWE Divas are booked lazily and fans don’t really care to see them wrestle since all they usually do is have one feud, and the rest of the roster parades around in bikinis or joins the guest host in the hot tub or VIP room. I miss the days of Trish & Mickie…
