Much ado is being made about the "Slammy Awards" coming up. It’s WWE’s version of an awards show, with a handful of awards (best wrestler, tag team, match, woman, rookie, etc.) meaning a fair amount in terms of the performances of the year. One major, glaring weakness in the WWE Slammy Awards, however…
They are ONLY WWE Awards!
The Wrestlezone Forums conduct annual awards as well, but since our members and posters are often fans of many forms of professional wrestling – WWE, TNA, ROH, Puro, AAA, etc. – our sample is a lot more balanced. In addition, since this is the final year of the ’00’s decade, we are running "Best of the Decade Awards" as well. Best PPV of the Year: Night of Champions, Extreme Rules, Wrestlemania, No Way Out, Summerslam, Bound for Glory, Dragon Gate USA: Enter the Dragon, etc.
Funniest Moment of the Decade: WWE Dating Game, Joey Styles bitch-slaps JBL, Santino sings "The Condemned," "Thomas Jefferson, Sucka!," etc.
Breakthrough Performance of the Year: The Miz, Matt Morgan, Desmond Wolfe, Jack Swagger, Maryse, etc.
Title Reign of the Year: Kofi Kingston (US), Austin Aries (ROH World), Christian (ECW), Chris Jericho (IC), etc.
Storyline of the Decade: The Invasion, nWo in WWE, Who Killed Vince McMahon?, Ric Flair’s Retirement, etc.
