TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW

Here’s a quote from Taz regarding his tenure as WWE announcer: “It’s a little obnoxious to have so many people in your ear. You have to listen to your announcing partner, the executive producer and the company owner while trying to follow the talent in the ring and tell a story. I only have two ears, not six.”

Rather than tell an announcer what to say in the heat of the moment, doesn’t it make more sense that those giving direction (and providing distraction) jump behind the mic and say it themselves? If those backstage know better than those at the announce table, and their guidance is considered must-follow, won’t eliminating the middleman produce a better product?

In other words, if you can do better, get out there and do it yourself. Show some balls. Money and position makes you right only in the thinnest, flimsiest sense. Talent and delivery count, too.
