Title This: WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction 8-29-2011

In Ring Segment:

John Cena enters the arena. He talks about Alberto Del Rio, how he has no class and no dignity as the champion.  He tells Del Rio to come get some. Mark Henry’s music hit. He came down to the ring to come get him some. He talks about the men that he has dismantled over the few months. He says Cena will join the Hall of Pain. Christian’s music hits, and he says Cena makes him sick. He hates how Cena whines about not getting what he wants each week. Sheamus comes out to even the odds. Christian bails, and leaves Henry by himself. John Lauranitis makes Christian and Henry face Sheamus and John Cena, but Triple H interrupts and says he already made that match. He says he is the boss of Lauranitis.

Reaction:

The segment did not make much sense, as Cena does not have much in common or historically speaking with these two men. This does not build storylines, but makes this Raw a way of highlighting Smackdown superstars. This segment gets a C.

The Miz vs. CM Punk Review:

The match starts slowly, both men hitting a few elbows and clotheslines. Punk hits a suplex on Miz. Punk tries an elbow, but Miz hits in to get caught up in the ropes. Miz continues to kick away at the body of Punk on the mat. Miz continues on the offensive, with a low DDT and a two count. Miz goes up top and knocks down Punk. A slugfest  back and forth, and Miz continues with a kick to the head of Punk. Miz continues to control the match by throwing Punk all around the mat, as he hits him into the ring post. Punk finally garners some offense, hitting a spinning back breaker onto The Miz. He flies high with an elbow drop. Out comes R-Truth, and we get a DQ. Both men beat down CM Punk, and throw him to the outside. Punk fights back until he fits truth with the Go To Sleep. Kevin Nash walks down the ramp, gets in the ring as he watches the Miz beat him down. Nash hits Punk with a Jackknife Powerbomb.

Reaction:

I really liked this match, it was not flashy or action packed but more of an old school feel. The ending fit, so neither men looked weak with a clean loss. Nash is obviously the heel, which is the right call to do for him. His powerbomb still looks fantastic, but I wonder what he can do in a 10-15 minute match. The chemistry of the two, old school vs new school will keep the storyline building each week. What can happen next is what everyone wants to know. This segment gets a b+, as the match was very complete, the ending worked, and the continued progress of the Punk as a face, and Nash as a heel is what needs to happen before Night of Champions.
