Top Ten: WWE Superstar Debuts

Number 10: John Cena WWE Smackdown June 27, 2002

Who would have thought that "Ruthless Aggression" would be the words spoken by Vince McMahon and create a superstar? Blue and yellow spandex tights, spiked hair, and a boyish grin are all ways to explain the debut of John Cena. Cena, known in Ohio Valley Wrestling as "The Prototype" is far from that. He jumped on the scene on Smackdown with his first match against Kurt Angle. He immediately became a crowd favorite when he kicked out of the Angle Slam and endured the Ankle Lock for over a minute. The crowd reaction began to pick up throughout the match, and it really showed McMahon he could have a star in the making. After this, Cena would feud with Chris Jericho, begin a tag team with Billy Kidman only to turn heel. He would then become such a great heel, where he had to turn face, and the rest is history. We couldn't see him then, but we sure can see him now.

Cena Stats: 12 World Championships, 3 United States Championships, 4 Tag Team Championships
