Again, let me reiterate that I was the only WZ writer to successfully predict Sheamus as this year's Royal Rumble winner. And now that I have, let me clarify that I'm not positive it will help him in the end.
I like Sheamus. He's over, too. But I think he needs to go one of two ways to reach that "next" level. A) Return heel and be a badass again. B) Stay face and become a badass again. I don't like the lovable Sheamus who plays nice all the time, smiles constantly, and befriends everyone in sight ( Teddy Long, Hornswoggle, etc.).
There's room in WWE for a fresh, ass-kicking babyface that only looks out for himself. Randy Orton is the closest thing to it right now and as such, he remains on a different level than Sheamus.
Winning the Royal Rumble should be a great opportunity for Sheamus. He's needed a relavant win and some sort of purpose/direction for months. He now has it, but will the push that follows amount to anything better in the end? I'm not so sure if they don't tweak his gimmick somehow before April 1st rolls around.
