I'm surprised WWE took this direction. Maybe it's because I was hoping for an eventual Big Show/Daniel Bryan pairing. Maybe it's because I thought Big Show had other plans for WrestleMania. Maybe he still does and I'm just rambling…
I like the potential this offers Cody Rhodes. He can gain from working with Big Show, the same way Daniel Bryan just did. It's simply due to the incredible size difference. When small guys find ways to beat giants, it can be effective. That's a real-life fact, not just in pro wrestling.
The one issue I have with this program is the same problem I've had for months. How does this help advance the Intercontinental Championship or that division as a whole? Show doesn't belong there. And as a result, the title will likely have no involvement in this feud.
Why is Rhodes still wearing it at all? It's been nonexistent since he reintroduced the old belt. He can continue passing old IC champions in the "longest run" list all he wants. It won't mean anything until he actually begins defending it every once in a while, at least.
There are other directions I would take with Cody Rhodes, but taking wishful thinking out of the equation, I'm okay with this. Big Show helped Daniel Bryan. I believe he can do the same for Rhodes.
