Alberto Del Rio – One Step Down

ADR said that he won't be ready to compete at WrestleMania 28 like he had originally thought. Unfortunate, but it might be the best thing. That is, if Vince has any plans at all to try and resurrect his career a bit once he does return.

Call me crazy, but I still see bigger and better things for Del Rio.

Del Rio has a lot of positives. And his negative qualities can be overcome. I don't think he's a bad talker, but he's certainly not connecting with the majority of fans when he does. Maybe when he returns, change what he's saying and maybe you'll have better luck. The "destiny" bit has run its course.

The biggest obstacle Del Rio will have when he's back is the same one he's had all along. Vince doesn't make it easy for heels to get over and succeed. Del Rio was one of the best (and worst) examples of this. His multiple reigns as Champion meant nothing. And it was all because Vince felt it was more important to protect the babyfaces…at ALL times.

Speaking of protecting John Cena – anyone remember the main guy that put him over the top way back when? JBL! It's pretty ironic too when you think of all the similar qualities between Layfield and Del Rio.

TIME ON TOP was given to JBL in order to get him over. Del Rio needs the same thing given to him. But as I said before, that philosophy goes for heels across the board. And unfortunately, I'm not sure Vince buys into that philosophy anymore.
