Mt. Killamanjaro: WWE WrestleMania 28 Preview Special

World Heavyweight Championship

Daniel Bryan (c) vs Sheamus

SheamusI’m not a huge fan of Daniel Bryan as a character. I know a lot of people are – and that’s fine – but his promos seem too forced for me to fully buy-in. Sheamus on the other hand, while cookie-cutter on the outside, has all the tools to be a huge star in the future of the WWE. Don’t get me wrong, Bryan is obvious the better in-ring talent, but Sheamus has the larger-than-life look and character that the Vince McMahon’s (now Triple H’s) of the world are looking for.

I still think this match should have been Sheamus vs Mark Henry, with Henry never losing the World title. If they plan on turning Sheamus into a true World Champion that the fans will rally behind (ala John Cena years ago) he needs a big villain to go over. People will boo Daniel Bryan, but not nearly with the passion they did Mark Henry. Plus, their dynamic was just more fluid. If they must give Sheamus the win here, it will work. But not to the extent it could have.

Ace: I have seen a few Sheamus matches. With the exception of one or two, they all end the same. Sheamus kicks someone in the face, then wins. So, that is how I am guessing this one will play out. I want Daniel Bryan to win, only because I think he is a really fun bad guy. He is not pure evil like Kane, or pure annoying like The Miz, or even pure pterodactyl like Vicky Guerrero. He is an ironic bad guy. He is the oblivious heel, who thinks everyone still likes him. He is the vegan heel, making him even more fun for me. I see him as the nega CM Punk, and I love CM Punk, so I like Daniel Bryan. I think Sheamus will win, because he is a newer good guy who the powers that be want to get more popular, but I want Bryan to win, because he is a cocky vegan and I tend to cheer for bad guys. Especially ironic ones.

Ken: The lil’ Indy Worker That Could has finally made it to the big dance… and this time the cameras will be rolling. We’re all so proud of Daniel Bryan and, all snark aside, seeing him defend the World Title at WrestleMania is undeniably cool. Unfortunately it’s against “the future of Triple H’s WWE.” Sheamus will win, AJ will turn on Daniel, and the hope of a long(er) championship reign by a true blue worker will vanish with one quick Brogue Kick.

My Prediction: I’ll echo Ken’s statement; AJ turns, kick to the face, 1-2-3 and new champion.
