BROCK/CENA – ONE STEP UP

I really didn't want Brock talking so much, but the opening segment on Raw last week more than made up for it.

I understand that some may argue WWE is rushing Cena and Brock, but I don't agree. Extreme Rules won't be the end of their feud, so what's wrong with kicking off the program in intense fashion? I prefer this method a hell of a lot more than I did the beginning of Jericho/Punk.

WWE needed a way to pick up where WrestleMania 28 left off. Brock Lesnar's return was the way to do that. And for two weeks straight, wrestling fans have been buzzing about it.

Give John Cena a big part of the credit, too. I still think his character needs to evolve, but I respect the fact that he's allowing guys like the Rock and Lesnar to get over as much as he has. He's the guy now that could balk in an instant if he wanted. And Vince would probably appease him. But Cena doesn't do that.

In terms of character development, I want to see more fire out of Cena. He just came off the biggest loss in his career. This upcoming match with Lesnar should be equally important to Cena, if not more.

Then again, that might be coming later. Let Cena lose a couple of very important matches and play up his reactions each time, like they did the Raw following 'Mania. They could start a subtle losing streak (not week to week, but in the big pay per view matches) and eventually, Cena will need to do something different.

I'm not sure what the plans are, but just like everyone else, I'm anxious to watch and see. It needs to benefit John Cena, ultimately. That's my only request.
