#1. The WWE Draft
I spoke too soon. I gave WWE credit prematurely and it might come back to bite me in the ass.
I bet a friend the other day that Vince isn’t concerned with the WWE Draft and there wouldn’t be one this year. Surely, he acknowledges the fact that there’s hardly a difference between the two brands anymore. Hell, how couldn’t he? He’s the one that made it that way.
Secondly, since he’s already writing good TV with the Rock into Lesnar into Heyman into who knows what’s next, there’s no real reason for the temporary ratings bump that the draft typically provides each year.
Apparently, there is. I now hear that the annual WWE Draft might take place after all.
Leave to it to Vince to try and make something out of nothing. And the true bothersome part is that he’ll likely succeed. We’ll tune in as usual and pop if Undertaker gets moved from Smackdown to Raw, even though I think he was on Raw more than he was on Smackdown earlier this year.
The draft only changes the house show landscape a bit. Vince could move a couple big stars to Smackdown to improve its live gate numbers, knowing he’ll still be able to use them on Raw.
It’s probably smart business…
I guess I should stop with that sentence.
