OverRYBACKion -- Calm Down, People
It's my job to overreact, and even I'm thrown off by the amount of it shown toward Ryback's botched finish(es) on Raw Monday. He got a little more tired than usual, Tensai sandbagged him -- who cares?
Vince cares, reportedly. I call bullsh*t on that, too.
If it were to become a regular problem (ex: Sin Cara's past entrance blunders), that might change, but Ryback will go back to successfully pulling the move off next week, if not sooner.
I've never seen so many people (non-wrestlers, even) try to explain the science of a FAILED wrestling move before. Kudos to LaBar for this, but someone tell me the point of it all.
No one in their right mind would suggest Tensai should be fired for one move gone wrong. Regardless of who's to blame. If he is to be fired, it should be for a lack of getting over. Nothing more, nothing less.
And even that wouldn't be entirely his fault.
If Vince McMahon is in "scramble mode", it's not because of his new rising star botching a finish. Rather, it's the falling ratings DESPITE the rise of said star. Raw just hit its lowest rating since July of last year -- this, the week after an undefeated Ryback surprisingly showed up to "challenge" the WWE Champion (and number one heel in the company).
Cause for concern? Absolutely.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Vince entered another panic mode very soon. He's been known to do that in the past when ratings dip too low. It just "feels" like it might be that time again.
Now, THAT is an overreaction worth discussing.
