The Main Event
-Yes it was predictable, but it was done to pefection. Vince and Paul kicked off WWE Raw with their fight, but was quickly interrupted by Brock Lesnar and Triple H. Both men looked in fantastic shape and the fight was on. Brock and Triple H came firing out of the gates, with Triple H busting open Brock Lesnar. I give all the credit in the world for Lesnar taking that shot on the ring post, whether it was planned or not. Blood is a perfect piece to this feud and can get even more personal in the coming weeks. Although it is a rematch, the pairing is realistic enough to think either guy could win. Many wanted Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar but his body would not be up to the physicality of a match with Lesnar. You will have these guys going after one another in the coming weeks and will still have Vince and Paul's history shown on the big stage. I loved the beginning of Raw and set a standard for the rest of the night. Sometimes being predictable is the best thing you can do in the WWE. This was the perfect example of it, with the blood and physical nature, it came off exactly how they needed it to. Grade: A
John Cena defeated CM Punk to headline Wrestlemania. The chemistry between John Cena and CM Punk is great. Cena starts the match firing as we head to a commercial break. Cena gets his usual offense in until Punk reverses his back body drop with a submission hold. Cena was able to escape quickly. Punk headed for a clothesline but Cena catches him. He applies the STF in the middle of the ring. I love how smart Punk is so smart and so smooth in reversing the move into the Anaconda Vice, but Cena slides out and locks in the STF. You can see how much this means to both men, and the crowd gave them all they needed. Punk hit a beautiful knee to the face of John Cena. Shortly after, Cena and Punk go back and forth until we see a Powerbomb from Cena. The ending comes when Punk kicks out of an AA, Cena kicks out of a GTS, Punk nails a PILEDRIVER, Cena hits a hurricanranna, and then wins with an AA.This was their best match ever. You had the smarts from Punk, the raw strength of Cena, and the unpredictability of how the night was going to end. Cena and Punk had absolutely everything. There was passion, drama, emotion, intensity, and the sheer interest of every single fan watching. Do not worry, YOU WILL SEE 'TAKER SOONER THAN LATER. It wasn't needed, obviously.
