The Wrestlemania Prediction Machine Part 1: WZ Staff Predicts the Undercard Winners

The Shield vs. Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show

The Shield

Mike Killam:

I’d be delighted to see the Shield win this, and add yet another high profile match to their already stunning perfect record. WWE has so many “outs” to choose from too – does Big Show leave his team to the wolves? Does Orton finally turn heel? The Shield wins; there’s just too many reasons for them not to.

Nick Paglino:

The story line being setup here is that Orton and Sheamus can’t trust the Big Show, which could and should  be a red herring for a Randy Orton heel turn during the bout. The story line has everyone expecting Big Show to be the guy that betrays the team, but if Orton ends up being the traitor it’s not only interesting, but it’s surprising and gives Orton the very much needed change of pace. WWE needs to be careful, however, because while an Orton heel turn would be a smart move, I DO NOT think he needs to align himself with The Shield. The Shield is doing a great job of getting themselves over on their own, and focus does not need to be taken away from them and placed on a newly-heel Orton joining the group.

Josh Isenberg:

Pags stole a lot of my thunder here, but I think the Orton heel turn is needed. He needs to turn heel, freshen up his character, and possibly start a feud with Sheamus to kick that off. It will give Sheamus a good rub to work with Orton, as well as Orton attacking one of the top faces in WWE. At the end of the day, The Shield needs to win this match to continue their dominance in the WWE. It does nothing for the faces to win and hurts young guys who need this Mania win.

Brian Gulish:

Three guys who all have different backgrounds against a team that has looked unstoppable, you can see where this match will end up.  Disagreement will ultimately dissolve Orton, Sheamus and Show, as I see Randy Orton turning his back on his team, not joining the Shield, rather beginning a new era for the Apex Predator and RKO’ing Sheamus and walking out.  Ambrose gets the cover.

Bill Pritchard:

The Shield has been great, and I think they should win again. The more interesting thing in this program is waiting to see who turns, if anyone. Orton, Show or Sheamus could turn, or none of them will. I would bet on Sheamus being least likely to turn, but do see The Shield continue their winning ways.
