Stars In Progress: The Shield, Ryback Down, AJ Lee

The ShieldThe Shield – One Step Up

The rebel group of three had a killer night on Monday. From (shoot) arriving in a helicopter, to a good promo in the back, to a huge win over a team that included The F'n Undertaker, to being involved in the finale. It's like they were the plural version of John Cena this week.

There's so much talk of a fourth member, who could it be, and do they need one — I really don't care anymore. I'm just enjoying the ride.

I said this when it was Dolph and Big E. challenging for the tag titles, and I'll say it now with The Shield — titles can help groups. Hell, I just said it earlier in this column regarding AJ's upcoming title shot.

The Shield just needs to keep rising in some form or fashion and winning the tag titles could do that. Gold rarely adds credibility anymore, but in some cases, I still think they can. This is one of those times.

I want to end with a question that was posed to me by a listener of one of my shows last night. Someone asked who I feel, out of the three members of The Shield, had the brightest solo future ahead of them once the group ultimately breaks up.

I think I know what the popular answer will be, but I'm curious to see the results. Give me the name and a brief reason why. I'll give you my response to that question very soon.
