12/22 Wrestlezone Recap: Batista Returning to WWE, Updates on the WWE Network, TNA Fires Former Champion & More

We’re back this week for another edition of the Wrestlezone Recap with a few major format changes. My reviews have been moved out of the weekly recap piece and back into their own individual editorials. Most recently I reviewed WWE TLC and Ring of Honor’s 2013 Final Battle event. Check them out.

For the foreseeable future, the Wrestlezone Recap will feature all the week’s major news topics, just in case you missed anything – what, with your busy lives and all – slanted with a little bit of bias from yours truly. First up…

Dave Batista Returning to WWE?

After the Las Vegas venue put out the advertisement, another rep out of Arizona did the same. And, just to confirm, our site actually spoke to a source inside WWE that confirmed Batista’s return in the near future, with video promos set to start airing in the coming weeks.

Here’s what I find suspicious: the two ads that are featuring Batista are for live events. Two seperate live events, two months in advance. I’m not even convinced WWE has its programming planned out that far ahead, even with WrestleMania season looming, let alone that they would give potentially huge info like this to ticketing services. Cards change all the time; this could have waited. Secondly, show of hands for who things Batista joins the full-time crew at live events should he actually return? And lastly, even if WWE had plans to bring back Batista, and even if the live event ads are legit, what are the chances plans stay the same now that the internet knows about it?

Update: All the ads featuring Batista have been taken down. Let the added speculation begin.

Personally, I don’t care about all the speculation and hype. If Batista comes back in the next few months I will welcome him with open arms. Given all the potential part-time stars that WWE could bring in for the Road to WrestleMania, a potential Batista return is at the top of my wish list.
