Chavo Guerrero Released from TNA Wrestling

Chavo Guerrero won a “Feast or Fired” match this week on Impact Wrestling, but ultimate came up short as the only guy to not get a title shot. Instead, they fired him. The jury is still out on how legitimate the release is, but as TNA has already let go a dozen other names in the past six months, it wouldn’t surprise me that either A) they didn’t want to renew his contract or B) Chavo just wanted out.

Admittedly I’m not the world’s biggest Chavo fan, but he was at least capable of more than the nothing they did with him on a weekly basis. Almost his entire TNA run was spent in a tag team with Hernandez, and neither of them really benefited in any tangible way. Supermex didn’t even both accompanying his partner, even though James Storm was there to see Gunner reveal his future world title shot. Chavo came in, made very little Impact, and will leave without having accomplished much during his run with the company. It’s not his fault, and I don’t mean any disrespect to the veteran, but very few people in TNA have actually accomplished anything solid in the last few years.

One More Match for HBK?

The ball is in Shawn Michaels court, according to multiple sources. WWE would like him to work a singles match against Daniel Bryan come WrestleMania 30, but the decision rests complete in Shawn’s hands. They certainly can’t demand he work the match. Either way, we should expect to see a lot more of HBK in the coming months. The decision will have to be made relatively soon, if it hasn’t been made internally already. WWE likes to have their main events in place by the Royal Rumble, and it’s like Michaels will need that time to get back in the ring and work off some of the rust that will have built up over the past few years.

Personally, I’d be thrilled to see another Shawn Michaels match at WrestleMania. I always thought he retired too soon, and still had a lot to offer the product. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for any guy that can find success in the industry and go out on his own terms, but as a fan I’m allowed to be selfish. Shawn and Daniel Bryan would bring the house down in New Orleans, and likely be worth the price of admission alone. Plus, with a likely Undertaker match, a likely Triple H match and the return of HBK that would allow them to take a few more risks with the WWE Championship match.
