The first Smackdown was centered around Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. They kicked off the show talking about how they are stronger than ever and hear the rumors about dissension inside the group. All three men cut a quick promo and begin their night facing Jimmy and Jey Uso.
The Uso's defeated Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns via disqualification, thanks to interference from Dean Ambrose. I really enjoyed Smackdown starting like this. Jey was the weaker link to kick off the match. Rollins kicks Jey and applies in a high choke, then he snaps his head on the ropes before Reigns tags in and hits a forearm for two. When Jimmy gets in, he hits a Samoan Drop and a corner splash onto Rollins. The brothers look to go for a suicide dive, but Dean Ambrose trips up Jey. This causes the DQ and The Shield begin to beat them down. CM Punk comes out and makes the save. We then get, what was the specialty match of 2013, a six man tag team main event.
CM Punk and The Uso's defeated The Shield in the main event. What else can you say about the main event that we have seen over and over again? It was great, with high energy and even more excitement than the last. There is something to be said about these guys on a weekly basis. Jimmy and Jey may never be the best tag team or the number one team in the WWE because of their limitations as characters, but they are excellent. They do what is needed of them. CM Punk is always going to be a guy that gets younger guys over and still be "The Best in the World." As for The Shield, they said it best. Ambrose said how they have been the most consistent and basically the best part of WWE in the past year. There is no denying how great all three guys are in the ring. They bring unique offense, speed and intelligence in the ring. I wish they would've won, but this is the beginning of their split. It is bound to happen, but when? My guess is that we get a huge start at the Royal Rumble. Look for Reigns to be that guy.
