Stars in Progress: Official WWE WrestleMania 30 Preview & Predictions

big showAndre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Big Show has been the odds-on favorite to win this battle royal from the very beginning. Monday's show reminded us of that fact.

However, it also gave me a little hope – hope that WWE will NOT go with the obvious choice in Big Show, but rather, go with someone else that could benefit more from winning a high-profile match on the biggest show of the year.

The actual match itself means very little. I really don't expect we'll ever see another "Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal" again. However, it's still a battle royal. It's still an exciting match. And it's still a chance for someone to shine on a huge stage.

Why not take EVERY opportunity as a good opportunity to potentially elevate a young star (ex: Sandow, Fandango, Big E.)? What about a star that needs a renewed boost of "something" to get going again (ex: Sheamus, Miz, Ziggler).

I can't say Sheamus really needs the win either, but Big Show certainly doesn't. Him winning the match would prove WWE doesn't take winning this particular match very serious at all.

I say any win could potentially make a star's career if given the opportunity to run with it. You never know what could catch hold and stick. I keep using Owen Hart winning/stealing the two Slammy awards in '97 as a good example.

Great stars can run with the smallest things and get over. The Andre Battle Royal could be that Slammy for someone…if WWE will let it happen.

"Hey Bulldog…you may have two titles, but you don't have two SLAMMIES!….and you know what Vader? You don't have two Slammies like I do, because you're losers, and we're winners…me and my SLAMMIES!"

My Prediction: Big Show (unfortunately)
