Stars in Progress: Daniel Bryan Moves Up Despite Injury, WWE’s Top Angles Treading Water, Good News for Divas & More

Daniel Bryan – One Very Cautious Step Up

daniel bryanI'm going to get a lot of heat for this, much like I got a lot of heat over the past two weeks for criticizing Daniel Bryan's title run thus far, but this week the "Yes! Man" gets a step up. For those that don't know, Bryan is taking time off for a legitimate neck injury, and will need surgery that will set him back at least 6-8 weeks. The surgery happens this Thursday, and at that point WWE will make a decision as to whether or not to strip him of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Bryan gets a step up because this is the first time since WrestleMania that I can remember wanting to talk about him. I LIKE DANIEL BRYAN. I've been a fan since Ring of Honor. But his rivalry with Kane hasn't been interesting, his promos are lackluster at best, and Brie Bella screaming makes me want to die. At this point everyone is wondering what's going to happen. I'll be glued to the TV next Monday night to find out. THAT'S GOOD FOR BUSINESS!

I hope they don't strip him of the title. However, I hope they DO take some notes from the MMA world and crown a new interim champion to represent the company while he's gone. The vacant seat gimmick is tired and overplayed. Having Stephanie take all that heat and put it on a Batista or a Randy Orton seems like good story-telling. When Bryan comes back, people will have a reason to invest in his constant "up hill battle" again.
