Isenberg’s Reaction: WWE Smackdown “Big Opportunities For Young Talent”

The Intercontinental Championship Feud

WWE Smackdown kicks off with the show off. Dolph Ziggler defeated Luke Harper via disqualification after a pretty solid bout. Ziggler picks up the win when Harper kicks him below the belt. After the match, Smackdown GM of the night Santino Marella announces that these two men will fight for the title in a Ladder Match at WWE TLC.

I loved this match being made, but loved the Ladder stipulation. A Ladder Match is so synonymous with the Intercontinental Championship and Dolph Ziggler will shine. I really feel that Luke Harper will be a huge surprise for many because of his athleticism as a big man.

I expect this match to steal the show in a week and really like what they are doing with both guys. Ziggler lost the title, but is still hotter than ever. Is he their best face right now? For Harper, I want to hear him speak more. I want him to cut an in-ring promo and to really begin to find his true character. He does not need to say much, but how he says it is critical.

The New Day defeated Tyson Kidd and Cesaro

Xavier Woods hits a few quick moves and Kofi gets into the ring. Woods comes back in and hits a forearm shot off the turnbuckles. Tyson Kidd gets into the ring and unloads with some kicks. After a little bit of offense, Xavier Woods breaks free and gets the tag.

Kofi connects with a few chops and clotheslines before he hits a Boom Drop and calls for Trouble In Paradise. Tyson Kidd ducks but Kofi turns and kicks him. Cesaro is able to break up the pinfall. Kidd whips Kofi into the corner while Xavier tags himself in. Kofi hits a backbreaker and Woods double stomps him from the top rope to pick up the win.

It will be very interesting to see how they continue to utilize all three men as a tag team. Personally, I want to see Big E in there more than the others. We still have not been completely exposed by what Woods can do. Kofi is very reliable, but needs to evolve more as a character. He has never stood out for me in terms of his gimmick. Maybe he can take a small back seat and potentially learn more outside promos.

Currently, Josh Isenberg works for Major League Baseball in their Advanced Media Productions. He grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Point Park University, which is where Chair Shot Reality is filmed each week.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
