Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “Book Seth Like a Champion”

A Fight Suited For a King

wwe smackdownWWE Smackdown started with King Barrett, who begins to talk about Jerry Lawler and tells him to hail King Barrett. Dolph Ziggler comes out and a match ensues. Sheamus and Barrett end up beating down Dolph, so Neville comes out and a tag team match takes place. Dolph and Neville pick up the win after an entertaining few segments.

What is WWE trying to do with these four guys? I like the storyline, but it is not helping that there is not a title of some sort in their path. It is not like someone can beat Barrett and become King, can there?

Neville is getting the perfect exposure on a regular basis, teaming with a fan favorite. Barrett and Sheamus continue to be two consistent heels and they are really helping Neville get some “big” moments. Neville is great, no doubt. Dolph has the personality and Neville has the fresh athleticism. Can they ultimately become a team consistently?

Reunion in the Works?

Yes. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan should reunite and chase the tag titles. There is always a need for tag teams and both guys could use something meaningful. I love the agility and the intensity that Luke Harper brings to the table. Erick Rowan is an average big man who is still not ready to be on his own. Solution? Bring them together and let them slightly change what they used to be to create a new identity of sorts.

With Lucha Dragons and Los Matadores being the only other tag teams working on a consistent basis, there is much need for a different style of tag teams. Harper and Rowan should have been champions for months and made the title chase a real storyline. Lucha have potential, but I am a firm believer that more quality tag teams are better than just one or two. Depth is crucial, especially in the tag division.
