A British Point of View: WWE SummerSlam 2015 Predictions

summerslamSo here we are! A few days away from the biggest event of the Summer! WWE has decided to give us a four hour (five if you include the pre-show) extravaganza which includes a total of ten matches.

Let’s have a look at what we have in store…

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev

This match was only made this past Monday on RAW but it has been building in Ziggler’s absence for the past few weeks. Normally when a rivalry involves someone throwing a headless fish at someone, I’m all for it but unfortunately this isn’t a contest I’m particularly intrigued by. This by no means suggests that this contest will be of poor quality. Most people thought that this match was going to be a mixed tag, but I think WWE were conscious of how many tag matches they have on this card and have possibly decided to keep this on the sidelines for a future PPV.

Prediction: Ziggler – But I don’t think this is the end of the rivalry, or the headless fish!

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

What did we do to deserve such punishment? Not only is this match not fair on the fans, it isn’t fair on the competitors. Orton and Sheamus’ rivalry goes all the way back to the night after WrestleMania 29. On this night, the crowd decided to take over the show. It’s not that these two cannot and will not put on a good match, it’s just that nobody cares why they’re facing each other. This match has hardly any build and was given a very quick purpose with the attempted cash in last week. Hopefully WWE will make this quick before the crowd gets out of hand again or possibly even hold it back for the pre-show to get Sheamus out of our thoughts for a possible cash in tease later in the evening.

Prediction: Sheamus – These two met last time and Orton got the victory, so this time it’s the Celtic Warrior’s turn.

Intercontinental Championship – Ryback vs. The Miz vs. The Big Show

I’ve just noticed when writing this match down that the only member of this triple threat I actually say a ‘The’ in front of their name is Ryback, I suppose I have Daniel Bryan to thank for that. This rivalry has dragged for such a long time as this match was initially supposed to happen last month but THE Ryback was unable to compete due to his staph infection. WWE are still high on THE Ryback and his reign hasn’t been given chance to gain ground so I can’t see them changing much at this stage.

Prediction: THE Ryback
