Cody Rhodes Gives His Wrestling Mt. Rushmore (With A Twist), Applies For His Name Trademark After WWE Rights Expire

Cody Rhodes might not being going by his first name anymore if the USPTO processes matters through accordingly. It was revealed that “The American Nightmare” has applied to receive the trademark rights to having his full “Cody Rhodes” name belong to him. WWE has had notification for over a year to renew it’s license on the name, which they’ve owned since 2007 after signing Cody, but the company did indeed let it expire. Rhodes put a filing in the day of as a matter of fact on April 13. Cody has said before that he has been allowed to use the name, but was intrigued at the prospect of getting just one name over.

“The reason I don’t use it is because I got so used to being ‘The American Nightmare Cody’ in Japan. I love that. I love the idea of trying my damndest to get a single name over. I got the rub off Dusty and my family long enough. I don’t mind not using it,” he said back in October.

In a separate Cody tidbit, Bleacher Report had an AMA session for it’s readers and “The Grandson Of A Plumber” was asked who would be on his wrestling Mount Rushmore. He went the unconventional route, choosing to leave a fourth spot up to the imagination:

“Flair. Hogan. Rock. Leave the fourth one as a vacant silhouette…because wrestling needs to make new stars,” Cody said.”
