Kenny Omega Among Five Names Inducted Into Wrestling Observer Hall Of Fame; Shares Reaction

The latest five inductees have been announced for this year’s Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame and one of those five includes the current number one contender for the AEW World Title, Kenny Omega.

Omega, along with Medico Asesino, Karloff Lagarde, Dan Koloff & Jun Akiyama were all announced as inductees in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Big names just missing the cut this year was the late Oregon area promoter, Don Owen, Sgt. Slaughter and the recently passed Rollerball Marc Rocco.

Avid WON subscriber, The Great Fowler shared the news with Omega who had the following to say about his induction.

“I’m not even sure what to say. To be amongst those that have done so much for our sport is incredibly humbling. With however many years I have left as an active performer, I’ll keep trying my best to contribute something positive to the world of Pro Wrestling.”

Wrestling Observer Hall Of Fame guidelines reads as follows:

Wrestlers are supposed to be judged on four major criteria, positive historical influence on the industry, drawing power, in-ring ability as it pertains to having outstanding matches and longevity. A Hall of Fame candidate should have all four, but someone who is very strong at either positive long-term influence, drawing power or in-ring match quality should get in based on any of these categories alone, but needs to be a standout in those fields. Longevity without having any major positive historical influence, significant drawing power or a high match quality should be viewed as meaningless.

For non-wrestlers, they should be among the elite in their historical roles.
