Paul Wight Calls Rey Fenix An ‘Incredibly Unique’ Talent, Says He’s A Fan Of Leyla Hirsch’s Work

Paul Wight can’t wait for AEW fans to see what’s coming up the pipeline in the talent department.

Paul Wight recently spoke with WrestleZone about the depth of talent in All Elite Wrestling and how exciting it is to see them exposed to a new audience domestically. When asked if there’s a specific wrestler or group of wrestlers he’s been paying attention to, Wight said there are so many people to talk about and said fans are in store for some great work from incredible talent across the board.

“There’s so much talent at AEW, but it’s undefined talent right now. It’s talent and desire in its rawest form, I don’t know how else to express that. It hasn’t been calculated or stripped of its authenticity yet. And so when you see that young talent there, you get excited about the opportunity for the talent,” Wight said. “I mean, the women’s division, Leyla Hirsch, I’m loving the stuff she’s doing. The Lights Out match that Dr. Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa had was pretty ridiculous that they went through, they set the bar pretty high there.

“You look at Rey Fenix, Rey Fenix has just really blown my mind since I’ve been there. I look at him and go, ‘my God.’ Because I worked with a young Rey Mysterio and remember how amazing Rey Mysterio was when he came on the scene. And Rey was doing things that the wrestling world hasn’t seen. I think that’s one of the guys who’s really going to blow everybody’s minds as things pick up and things start to grow. Rey Fenix is going to blow everyone’s mind with how incredibly unique of a talent that he is.”

Wight also took time to praise Lance Archer’s recent work as well as Konosuke Takeshita, who made some appearances on AEW Dark Elevation and their ‘House Always Wins’ live event in April. Wight said it all comes down to opportunity for talent, adding that “as AEW continues to grow and we have that strong platform on TNT, there’ll be a lot of great things in the future.”
