Mickie James Announces NWA Women’s Invitational Tournament, First Participant Revealed

Mickie James and the National Wrestling Alliance continue to create more opportunities for women in professional wrestling.

During her appearance at Tuesday’s NWA press conference, Mickie James announced that the National Wrestling Alliance will host the first-ever NWA Women’s Invitational.

“For the first time ever, we are going to hold the NWA Women’s Invitational, where we will find the top women in the industry, the up-and-coming, the rising talent that we see as the future prospects of the women in the industry,” James said.

James also revealed the first competitor in the tournament, St. Louis’ own Tootie Lynn. She then explained that the tournament will be hosted annually on the NWA’s anniversary weekend, with the NWA Women’s Invitational Cup winner going on to face the NWA Women’s Champion. This year’s tournament winner will move on to NWA 73 to contend for the NWA Women’s Championship, currently held by Kamille.

The National Wrestling Alliance will host four consecutive nights of wrestling events in St. Louis starting with NWA Empowerrr on August 28. The NWA 73rd Anniversary show will take place the next night on August 29, followed by two nights of television tapings on August 30 and 31.
