AEW Dynamite Posts Second-Best All-Time Viewership Total, Posts Higher Key Demo Rating Than WWE RAW

AEW Dynamite viewership saw a huge boost this week, posting the second-best all-time number in the show’s history.

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite brought in 1.319 million viewers, which is not only up from 1.047 million viewers last week, but it’s also the highest-viewed show since their debut episode brought in 1,409,000 viewers on October 2, 2019.

Not only did AEW see a huge boost in overall viewership, but AEW Dynamite posted its second-highest key 18-49 demo rating of all time with a 0.53. This figure is only ranked second behind the debut show, which had a 0.68.

In addition to All Elite Wrestling posting great numbers compared to their own history, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reported that AEW Dynamite’s key demo rating was higher than WWE RAW’s for the first time ever. AEW Dynamite had 681,000 viewers aged 18 to 49, while Raw had 678,000 in the demo.

Chris Jericho was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio and talked about how beating NXT was a victory for AEW, but it was never their prime focus. Jericho said they were focused on beating WWE RAW and SmackDown’s ratings, and went as far as predicting it would happen within six months.

“When you see ‘oh this week AEW beat SmackDown in the 18-49 demo’ or the 18-34 demo. Even just winning one or two of those demos, that’s a big deal. Sooner or later, we’re going to start beating RAW. It’s not going to be every week,” Jericho stated, “but I bet you over the next 2-4 months, maybe 4-6, we’re going to start beating RAW, and that’s my prediction that I’m saying to you guys right here.

“And the reason for that is we keep talking about the cool factor, but it’s the storytelling. We don’t panic, we don’t rush. We live in our own world and we book accordingly. We book smartly, if you watch our show it’s like watching the first three Star Wars episodes—one thing always leads to the next and sometimes you’ll see where the seeds were planted months earlier, but we always know what we want to do and where we want to go.”
