Matt Cardona will do whatever it takes to bring the Internet Championship back to its real “daddy”, and he proved as much when he agreed to put his GCW career on the line in a title match against Effy at GCW Fight Club.
Effy won the title from Cardona in what the forner champion has called the “New York Screwjob.” At the Get Lost Alot show on September 24, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale gave Cardona a chance to earn a rematch for the GCW World Championshi by defending his Internet Championship. Cardona agreed, but he was somewhat blindsided by Effy, who quickly rolled the champion up to end his lengthy reign.
Over the past few days, Effy denied Cardona’s demand for a rematch and told him that he’d have to put something on the line to get the match. In a tweet on Thursday, Effy named Cardona’s GCW career as the price, and the challenger accepted these terms. The following day, GCW confirmed the match for the Fight Club show on October 9.
