Gran Metalik And Lince Dorado Released By WWE

Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado have been released by WWE.

WWE made several cuts on Thursday, with Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado being two of the names confirmed by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp as being released by the company. According to Sapp, budget cuts were cited as the reason for the releases in an email sent to talent by John Laurinaitis.

According to a September report by Miguel Reducindo of Mas Lucha, Gran Metalik requested his release from WWE, citing a “lack of opportunities” for himself. Mike Johnson of PWInsider later reported that both Metalik and Lince Dorado had been backstage at various WWE shows in recent weeks looking to speak to management over their unhappiness with how they have been used, but it was unknown if Lince Dorado had actually requested his release.

Dorado and Metalik both made their WWE debut in the company’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament. Metalik and Dorado are both former WWE 24/7 Champions, winning the title one time each.

Metalik and Dorado have both posted comments on their respective Twitter accounts, seen below. Metalik simply wrote “free”, while Dorado shared a clip of Conor McGregor shouting, “Surprise, surprise, motherf-cker, the king is back!”

Update: Metalik also issued the following statement:

Thank you WWE universe for welcoming me with open arms during my stay in the company. Thank you @VinceMcMahon for granting me my release. I will miss you WWE universe. Remember the most important thing in life is to be Happy See you soon. “The king of the ropes” Mascara Dorada
