ROH Help sent along the following …
ROH World Champion Roderick Strong has now successfully defended his title on five separate occasions against five different opponents: Christopher Daniels, Davey Richards, Jay Briscoe, El Generico, and Homicide. While he has retained the title each time, he has gotten increasingly desperate with each defense. The “9th Anniversary Showâ€, which saw the interference of both Truth Martini & Michael Elgin and was contested with essentially no rules, served as a great example of what lengths Strong will go to in order to maintain his hold on the title he fought so hard, and for so long, to finally win.
Now in Plymouth on March, 18th, Strong will have to face three of those former challengers in an elimination bout that will be non-title, but will some seriously high stakes for all four competitors involved. This match, which ROH officials have dubbed “Defy or Denyâ€, will determine the immediate future for one man.
It will be ROH World Champion Roderick Strong vs. El Generico vs. Homicide vs. Jay Briscoe with elimination rules, and whoever gets the final pinfall will either defy the odds, or be denied for the foreseeable future. The rules are as follows:
— If Strong wins than neither El Generico, Jay Briscoe, nor Homicide can ever challenge for the ROH World Title again while Strong is champion.
— If El Generico, Jay Briscoe, or Homicide win than the winner will face the champion on 4/2 in Atlanta with the title on the line.
All three men have recent history with Strong and the ROH World Title. Each man has been beaten, but all have legitimate claims to rematches. Will one man defy the odds and become top contender or will they all be denied, leaving Strong to move on? And how will dealing with all three of these warriors impact Roderick as he faces Eddie Edwards for the ROH World Title the following night in NYC?
