As announced this past weekend in Philadelphia during the “ROH on HDNet” tapings, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana and Davey Richards will go one-on-one as part of the “9th Anniversary Show” iPPV event on February 26th!
In Philly, Richards stated that he was in training, in various methods and disciplines, for his eventual rematch for the ROH World Title. The former World Tag Champion also told Jim Cornette that he would let ROH management know when he felt he was prepared for the title shot.
As for Colt, he made it known several weeks ago that his main interest right now lies in wrestling for wrestling’s sake. No more bloody brawls and cheap victories, Cabana is looking to showcase the sport of pro wrestling in his own unique fashion with the best wrestlers around the world.
In Chicago Ridge, these two paths will converge as two of the best grapplers in the world go head-to-head for the sake of pure sport. Richards wants to prep himself in every style possible before he challenges for the belt, Colt wants to show the world the art of pro wrestling, and when they step into the ring against one another, these two similar goals are sure to create magic.
“This is about preparation.” stated Davey, “It’s about making sure I am ready for everything that comes my way, whether it be the striking game, the ground game, or the European style that Colt is a master of, this Wolf must be prepared for any eventuality. When the time is right, when I am ready, I will take that title from whoever holds it, or…like I said…I will never challenge for it again.”
“In the Windy City, in my backyard, me and Davey are going to showcase the best wrestling today.” said Colt Cabana, “I respect ya Davey, your kicks, your drive, your intensity, how can anyone not? But this is going to be about the wrestling my friend, and the love we both have for our sport. Afterwards, win or lose, I will shake your hand, but from bell to bell, oh boy, we are going to do this like only Ring of Honor can do it!”
