ROH Title Defense Announced For Mississauga Event

Eddie Edwards has gone on record to say that he is a fighting champion and will defend the ROH World Television Title at any opportunity. ROH officials are working on the necessary paperwork to get the title defended, not only on television, but at most of the live events as well. Prince Nana was recently successful in acquiring TV Title matches for his men at non-televised events but could this mean the TV title will be defended at the majority of live ROH events?

That was from the October 9th Newswire and in the October 12th Newswire it was announced that ROH officials had listened to Edwards’ request and would sign his opponent within a few days. Well it didn’t take long to find a suitable opponent for this half of The American Wolves, none other than “The Generic Luchador” El Generico! And this match will take place on November 13th when ROH returns to Mississauga, ON, Canada at The International Centre.

These are two men very familiar with one another after the battles throughout 2009 that culminated in Ladder War II at “Glory by Honor VIII: The Final Countdown” on 9/26/09. Both men were also part of the initial tournament to crown the 1st ever ROH Television Champion in February/March of this year. Generico fell in the opening round to Kenny King whereas Edwards would go on to defeat his own partner, Davey Richards, in the finals to be crowned the 1st champion.

After catching flack for his lack of title defenses for several months, Edwards has been on fire as a fighting champion since getting rid of Shane Hagadorn. With successful title defenses against Rhett Titus, Kenny King, Erick Stevens, Shawn Daivari, Erick Stevens, and The Necro Butcher all under his belt in just the last two months, Edwards has silenced any critics by taking on any and all challengers.

Generico, on the other hand, has been distracted with this constant physical and emotional onslaught from Kevin Steen and Steve Corino. And with the impending match at “Final Battle 2010” hanging over his head, it has to be hard for this former ROH World Tag Team champion to focus. But Generico has proven him self a man capable of overcoming great adversity and capable of rising above his issues when the pressure is on. It’s been a long time since Generico has had an opportunity to capture singles gold within Ring of Honor and the opportunity to do it in front of his…adopted…home country may be the missing ingredient Generico needs to capture the ROH World TV Title from Edwards.

Generico vs. Edwards, ROH World TV Title on the line, don’t miss out as ROH comes back to Canada on November 13th with two big World Title matches as Roderick Strong also defends the ROH World Title against Christopher Daniels.
