It was an historic weekend for World Wrestling Entertainment as John Cena, Rey Mysterio and the rest of the amazing Superstars and beautiful Divas brought all the awesome spectacle and athleticism of WWE to China for the very first time.

In front of nearly 8,000 energetic fans, WWE held a one-night only event, which featured WWE ChampionSheamus, Eve, Randy Orton and more in thrilling action. This special live event was held in conjunction with Expo 2010 Shanghai, a major international fair which aims to bring hundreds of different world cultures to tens of millions of people in China.

Knowing this was their first opportunity to see their favorite Superstars in person, fans traveled from Hong Kong and Macau and lined up hours ahead of time to gain access to this momentous event. After snatching up every ticket in less than an hour, the members of the WWE Universe packed the center and cheered on their favorites as chants of “619!” and “RKO!” shook the ring. (Though, even on the other side of the globe, people still seemingly despised The Miz.)

For the Superstars and Divas, this unique experience did not end there. Big Show, Alicia Fox and others took the time to meet their fans, sign hundreds of autographs, and talk with television and newspaper reporters from all over China. The following day, Cena and company made headlines everywhere from The Wall Street Journal to the Shanghai Daily. To say there was major interest in WWE would be an understatement.

For WWE, this memorable day marks yet another huge milestone in its global expansion. With more than 70 international events per year and a dedicated fan base all across the world, the leader in sports-entertainment has wowed fans in Australia, Mexico, Germany, England and now China. It is this unmatched popularity that truly makes it a WWE Universe.
