Thanks to Nuke Graham for sending in the following report:

FCW Live Event Results – 6/16/2010

Townsend Pavillion at the Volusia County Fairgrounds – Deland, FL

Match 1: Lucky Cannon pinned Big E Langston

Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins as well as Kaval & Yoshi Tatsu entered the ring for their tag team match. Some fun comedy mic-work as Hawkins & Archer were making fun of Yoshi Tatsu, then Kaval offered to translate what they said to Yoshi. Kaval whispered in Yoshi’s ear, Yoshi whispered back, then both began laughing. Hawkins and Archer demanded to know what was so funny. Kaval then asked Hawkins if Archer was his girlfriend… because Archer has a girl’s tattoo. Tatsu was referring to Archer’s tattoo on his lower back. The nickname for this type of tattoo is a “Tramp Stamp”, which is also a nickname of Archer’s given by the regular crowd at the FCW Arena in Tampa. During the whole match, Hawkins & Archer both went out of their way to keep Archer’s ring attire pulled up over his “Tramp Stamp”.

Match 2: Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins defeated Kaval & Yoshi Tatsu when Archer pinned Tatsu

Match 3: Rhys Ali pinned Shad Gaspard

Byron Saxton then came to the ring and told the crowd that it has been 116 days since WWE ended the run of ECW, and he has since been doing whatever it takes to stay in the good graces of management. Tonight, he stated that he had been assigned to reluctantly be the temporary manager of Rudy Parker, who then joined Saxton in the ring. Abraham Washington then came out and said he had been given a similar assignment and offered a little wager to Saxton over who’s man is going to win. Parker immediately accepted on Saxton’s behalf. Washington then announced that his man is the Bastita-like monster Mason Ryan.

Match 4: Mason Ryan (with Abraham Washington) pinned Rudy Parker (with Byron Saxton)

Match 5: Divas Tag Team Match – Liviana & Alicia Fox defeated Naomi Night & Natalya when Fox pinned Natalya after interference from Tamina

Match 6: FCW Tag Team Championship Match – “Los Aviadores” Hunico & Epico successfully defended against Brodus Clay & Donny Marlow when Epico pinned Clay

Match 7: FCW Heavyweight Championship Match – Alex Riley pinned Johnny Curtis

Match 8: WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match – “The Hart Dynasty” David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd (with Natalya) defeated Jimmy & Jey Uso (with Tamina) when Kidd pinned Jimmy following The Hart Attack

Notes About The Show:

Prior to the show, there was an autograph session featuring David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, and Natalya.

Jamie Keyes & “Queen Of FCW” A.J. Lee shared ring announcer duties for the evening.

One of this biggest surprises of the night was relative newcomer Rhys Ali’s upset of Smackdown superstar Shad Gaspard. Ali is a New Zealander who most recently worked for Afa’s WXW as Reon Mahima.

Johnny Curtis owned the crowd during his FCW championship match with Alex Riley. The crowd was particularly upset when Curtis had Riley down for a pin, and young referee Daniel Skyler counted to two and then just stopped even though Riley hadn’t gotten his shoulder up in time. By unwritten old school rule, if the wrestler doesn’t get his shoulder up in time, you count the 3, regardless of the booking plan. Based on that, Curtis should have become FCW champion.

The WWE Unified Tag Team Title Match was literally a PPV quality match with both teams giving it their all with lots of highspots and near falls. The packed house was deafening throughout the show, but the peak was reached throughout this match.

Talent in attendance at the show, but not used in the ring included NXT season 2 Rookies Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty, Percy Watson, Titus O’Neill, and Eli Cottonwood. Other FCW talent visibly in attendance included Asana (with her little dog in her purse), Bo Rotundo, Brett DiBiase (on crutches and wearing a knee brace), Cable Jones, Caylen Croft, Conrad Tanner, Derrick Bateman, Devin Allen, Jackson Andrews, Jacob Novak, Leo Kruger, Richie Steamboat, Trent Baretta, Wes Brisco, and Jinder Mahal (who was just added to the online roster this week). Mahal was a main event star Calgary Stampede Wrestling under the name “Tiger Raj Singh”. FCW personnel also present and mingling with the crowd included Norman Smiley, Tom Pritchard, Matt Martlaro, FCW President Steve Keirn, and the newest staff member, Hall Of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

FCW will return to Deland on July 10 with appearances by Hall Of Famer “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes as well as his son, RAW Superstar Goldust.
