A Samoan WZ Reader Laments The Death of Eddie Fatu

Thanks to Melvin Tofete for sending in the following:

Hearing today about the sad news of Eddie Fatu and reading something a Wrestlezone reader wrote in I was drawn to write something in whether it be posted or not.

Im a Samoan living with my family in New Zealand and everytime a Samoan makes it big anywhere we are always happy and we feel proud that we are being represented, since Samoa and American Samoa are both small islands.

No one could of made me so proud then The Rock. Everytime he would wrestle I would think, he represents me and Samoa. Ever since he left the WWE, no Pacific Islander made it into the WWE that I can recall of until of course Eddie "Umaga" Fatu debuted on Monday night Raw. He brought laughter to my whole family everytime he wrestled. Eddie would often speak Samoan when in the ring, he didn’t say much nice things as you would imagine. He swore in Samoan most of the time which was really funny and made watching wrestling even more enjoyable. Eddie Fatu made two small islands very proud as he performed each week for the WWE. I was very sad when I heard the news of his passing. Even though I didn’t meet him in real life,  when he performed in the ring it was if I already knew him.

Eddie fa’afetai lava mo le tele ‘o taimi na ‘e pi’i ai ‘i totonu o le maea, ma taimi na ‘e fa’afiafia ai ‘i matou tagata matamata.

Eddie thanks for the times you wrestled in the ring and the times you entertained us the fans. I speak not only myself but all the fans out there, but mainly all the proud Samoan fans out there!

Talosaga mo le ‘aiga ma le to’alua, Soifua.

Much love for the family and your wife
