We open with the next edition of Austin Aries’ Lucky Lottery, and this week’s lucky winner is…”Sugarfoot” Alex Payne!
-Austin Aries defeated Alex Payne to retain the ROH World Title
Austin takes Payne down and outwrestles him to start, then comes off the ropes with a shoulderblock. Payne comes back with standard vanilla jobber armdrags, but makes the stupid mistake of locking Aries in a headscissors, which anyone who’s seen an Austin Aries match since 2004 should know better to do, and I think we know what happens next. Aries with the legsweep and then that stupid Pendulum Elbowdrop thing that’s the closest thing ROH has to a People’s Elbow, but thankfully it misses this time. Too bad it never has in a match that meant anything. Payne gets a Russian Legsweep to huge boos for 2, but Aries comes back with a shoulderbreaker, then rams Payne shoulderfirst into the turnbuckle. One corner dropkick and brainbuster later and…Aries pulls him up and locks him in the Last Chancery instead to retain. Aries decides to be cool and keep the hold on after the bell (to chants of “don’t let go”), but Bryan Danielson comes out to chase Aries off, then calls the drawing a sham, and challenges Aries to defend the title against him right now. Aries says that he’s tired of everyone calling Danielson the best in the world and he will climb in the ring and shut his mouth, then Aries gets in the ring, gets right back out, and says “but not tonight.” Aries is awesome.
-Necro Butcher and Bison Smith were both counted out
Necro and Bison go toe to toe to start. Bison with a big charging clothesline in the corner, then tosses Necro to the floor. Bison grabs a chair and uses it to choke Necro out, but they head back in the ring and Necro starts pounding away on Bison and then trying to gouge his eyes out in the corner. Bison fights back and goes up top, but Necro knocks him off the top to the floor and dives on him from the apron. They each gran a chair and start fencing with them on the outside until the ref counts them both out and rings the bell. Bison is not pleased with this and tosses Necro into the crowd and dives onto him. The two men brawl through the crowd and all around ringside. Necro grabs another chair and goes to work on Bison with it, and the 20 people trying to break the fight up are failing. Bison grabs another chair and cracks Necro over the head with it, but as Nana tries to lead Bison away, Necro goes after him again. Finally the fight gets broken up as the respectful ROH fans start throwing all kinds of garbage into the ring.
