WWE wins CableFAX Award

NEW YORK CITY – In another example of WWE’s influence on entertainment, WWE’s Classics on Demand snagged a CableFAX Award for Best Video On Demand Program/Special for Legends of Wrestling: Soul of Wrestling Wednesday.

This hour-long installment of the WWE Classics on Demand program, Legends of Wrestling, highlighted the amazing contributions that African-American entertainers have provided in WWE over the years. Tony Atlas, Teddy Long and others spoke about the struggles and triumphs of their careers. The episode aired this past February, as part of WWE’s celebration of Black History Month.

Among those in attendance for the prestigious event held in New York’s Grand Hyatt Wednesday were Dan Rather, who was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame and Won the Best Host: News award for Dan Rather Reports on HDNet; Inside the Actors Studio host James Lipton, who was also inducted into the the Cable Hall of Fame; and MSNBC’s Suze Orman, who was named Best Talk Show Host.

The presitigious CableFAX Award is given to cable’s finest programs. Legends of Wrestling: Soul of Wrestling was selected from a pool of literally hundreds of shows, including Time Warner Cable and CBS College Sports Network’s NCAA VOD entry, The Best of March Madness. Legends of Wrestling was in good company, however, as other CableFAX Award recipients included Mad Men (Best Cable Program), Battlestar Galactica (Best Writer), and Tony Shaloub (Best Actor in a Comedy).
