Bret Hart

ROH Owner Talks Bret Hart’s Possible Full-Time ROH Future

ROH owner, Cary Silkin, stepped back into the squared circle of “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio,” Monday Night Mayhem, on the eve of this weekend’s “Death Before Dishonor VII” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Many topics/issues are indeed on the hearts & minds of the Ring Of Honor faithful leading into Friday & Saturday night’s events, but the two primary items of discussion that are getting the most buzz are the ROH debut of WWE Hall Of Famer, Bret “Hitman” Hart (coming off of the heels of past Legends appearing for the company), as well as the latest internet reports about Ring Of Honor’s future.

“You can’t argue with Bret Hart’s credentials. You can’t argue with one of the all-time greats in the history of the sport. As far as his involvement with us beyond Toronto, he’s going to be in Chicago & New York City. I’ve dabbled a little bit discussing the TV thing. I’ve never really sat down with him. So, this weekend, we can talk a little. Sure…who wouldn’t love to have Bret Hart? I’m excited to have him participate this weekend & get to meet him…Who knows what’ll happen?”

With regards to ROH’s long-term future & why the Ring Of Honor fans should not be worried about the company’s long-term stability: “The economy is terrible…it’s not just exclusive to the wrestling business. It’s spread throughout every business. People aren’t spending money like anyone would like them to, and times are tough. You gotta make changes…make due. But, we’re rockin’. I’m really happy with partnering up TV-wise with HDNet. These guys are dynamite people. The production values are amazing. They’re growing (as far as the systems they are on). We’re hanging with these guys. We cut back on a couple of markets that were not profitable, and we are doing our TV & live shows. There’s a few shows less than then we would have done from the past years. That’s just the nature of what you have to do now: You have to hold back, be careful, & make adjustments. We are ready to come to Canada this weekend.”

In his return to The Mayhem, Cary also discusses his candid thoughts/takes on Lance Storm’s ROH return (and the chances of him becoming a Ring Of Honor regular), the matches he is excited to seeing this weekend, how he thinks ROH can increase their audience to include the more “casual” fan (and why that is more difficult than some may believe), as well as CM Punk’s reign as the WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion (and his new heel persona, which was first established in ROH).
