WWE House Show Results (4/22): Birmingham, England

Mike Evans sent along the following to WrestleZone.com:

Three quarters full at least, stewards allowed fans in one section to move to the front with it being quite empty in one area. But nonetheless, absolutely great atmosphere.

Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Kidd

Great reaction for Evan Bourne, pretty big heat for Tyson Kidd. Very good matchup, 50/50, lots of close falls, and was given a good 10-15 minutes. Evan Bourne picked up the victory with his Shooting Star Press.

Maryse/Natayla/Katie Burchill vs. Gail Kim/Brie Bella/Nikki Bella

Pretty good reception for Maryse, Natayla and Katie in our section. But even better reaction for Gail and The Bella Twins. Very back and to matchup, few moments of sloppyness but generally a good effort from the six divas. Gail Kim got the pinfall over Natayla I think after her finishing move.

United States Championship: MVP (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. R-Truth

R-Truth got a big pop from the crowd, got the crowd very much involved, Benjamin out next to massive chorus of boos, before MVP came out to a great reaction. Great effort from all three guys, MVP and R-Truth teamed up on Benjamin for the first few minutes before going at it with each other. Shelton hit his finisher on R-Truth, but MVP intervened and hit the Playmaker on Benjamin to earn the pinfall.

DX music hits and Justin Roberts advertises that the Raw Superstars will return to Birmingham and will host the DX Invasion Tour, Thursday November 12th, at the LG Arena.

Belfast Brawl – Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. Mark Henry

Finlay and Hornswoggle got a good reaction, Henry obviously received big heat. Entertaining matchup though, everything possible was used and scattered about in the ring, Hornswoggle entered the ring and squared upto Henry before being pushed to the ground, Finlay pulls out his shilelagh and attacks Henry, and gets the pinfall.

Brief Intermission with a short apperance from The Honey Monster who has been sponsoring the UK Tour.

ECW Championship: Jack Swagger (c) vs. Christian

Tiffany is the special guest announcer for this contest. Christian’s music hits, but she introduces Jack Swagger. Took about a minute for the audio guys to correct it, finally Swagger’s music hits and out he comes. Massive heat for the ECW Champion, and gets in the face of Tiffany for the mistake (even tho it was the audio guys fault). Christian comes out to a nice pop. Lots of false finishes in this good matchup, nice warmup for Sunday’s match, Christian went for the Unprettier but Swagger reversed it and sent him into the ringposted and finished Christian off with the Gutwrench Powerbomb for the pinfall.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

Pretty good reaction for Matt Hardy at the start, slowly turned into boos. Big reaction for Jeff. Good matchup, they all got their big spots in pretty much, with Jeff finishing off his brother Matt with the Swanton, which sent the place nuts.

Triple H and The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes

Triple H is out first and gets an enormous reaction, entrance is great live. Shortly followed by The Undertaker who’s cheers was on a par with HHH. Legacy out next and they got alot of boos from the younger audience, but alot of cheers from older members of the crowd.  Before the bell can start, Triple H attacks Orton and Orton goes running up the ramp and back through the curtain, leaving it as a 2 on 2 matchup for the time being.  Positive start for HHH/Taker controlling DiBiase and Rhodes, but Rhodes and DiBiase gain control on HHH for a good five minutes at least, with lots of close tags but no cigar for HHH. Undertaker is pacing up and down the apron and picks up a bottle of water and pours it over himself going mad, still reaching out for the tag.  Finally gets the tag few minutes later and clears house. Fight breaks to the outside again and DiBiase and HHH fight up the rampway, where Orton returns and attacks HHH from behind and rejoins his team. Great matchup, Orton got his RKO in on Undertaker and went for the punt to the head on HHH but missed, and shortly after HHH chased him away and he disappeared through the curtain yet again, and wasnt seen again. Triple H and Undertaker finished off DiBiase and Rhodes with the Pedigree and Tombstone respectively. Both posed in the ring for a while, Taker first with the lights dimmed down and purple, then Undertaker disappeared and it was Triple H’s turn, and then tagged hands with the crowd on the way to the back to end the show.
