Today marks the 25th anniversary of the original Starrcade, which took place on this day in 1983 in Greensboro, NC, shown on closed circuit TV: the Assassins over Rufus R. Jones & Bugsy McGraw; Kevin Sullivan & Mark Lewin over Johnny Weaver & Scott McGhee; Abdullah the Butcher over Carlos Colon; Dick Slater & Bob Orton, Jr., over Mark Youngblood & Wahoo McDaniel; Charlie Brown (Jimmy Valiant) over the Great Kabuki to win the âNWA❠Television Title; Roddy Piper over Greg Valentine in a dog collar match; Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood over Jack & Jerry Brisco to win the âNWA❠World Tag Team Title, with Angelo â~King Kongâ Mosca as special referee; and Ric Flair over Harley Race to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title, with Gene Kiniski as special referee.

Bob Ryder is reporting that Champions With Attitudes falsely promoted Samoa Joe for their November 21 show in Columbia, SC. Apparently, Joe had agreed to be at the show, but Ryder says payment and airline tickets were never sent in advance as required. According to Ryder, CWA promoter Roger Gleaton backed out of bringing in Joe via email on November 13, yet posted the lineup on November 18 at a message board, with Joe still advertised. Reports from the show were that Gleaton informed the fans that Joe had no-showed.

Ring Wars Carolina results from âThanksBeatings❠on November 22 at the Uptown Flea Market in Lumberton, NC: Ken” Mama’s Boy” Shirt defeated “Scandinavian Sweetheart” Mia for the Internet Championship. “The New Nature Boy” Anthony Shawn Sharp defeated Carolina Kidd. Rage defeated PoPo Da Klown. Simply delicious Dino defeated Old School and Andrea the Giant in a Triple Threat Match. The Angel Cross defeated the Iron Chief. Ash Walker defeated Tex Mex. RWC TV Champion “Screaming Eagle” Andy McDaniels and RWC’s ever Hangtyme defeated new tag team B D Productions w/ “The New Nature Boy”, Anthony Shawn Sharp.

RWC’s next show will be December 13 at Hoke County High School in Raeford, NC. Doors open at 6pm and bell time is 7:30pm This is a Relay for Life benefit show.

United States Wrestling Organization / ATL Wrestling results from November 22 in Nashville, TN, at the Stadium Inn with 42 to in attendance: Dominator (with Ronnie Vegas) vs. Super Delirious Black Ninja went to a double countout as they brawled on the floor. Psycho Medic beat Tim Renesto. Toby Farley (with “The Ace” Nick White) beat Logan Shane. Chris Norte beat Anthony Wayne in a 2/3 falls match. Wayne had won the third fall with a sharpshooter, but would not release it the hold so ref Boogie reversed the decision. Derrick Neal beat Kevin Dunn (with Lekisha). Damien Payne beat L.T. Falk and Steven Green in a match where the winner had to get 2 pinfalls.

Smith in the match with John Muhler. Smith had been billed as a â~Captainâ from Augusta. Mr. Hopper managed Muhler. It was reported that Smith would receive $100 from John Muhler if he could win a single fall, with Muhler receiving gate receipts. Smith arrived late for the match, and in an effort to make certain the audience who had gathered were entertained, F.S. Hughes volunteered to wrestle Muhler.
