Feature: Steve Anderson On How To Win A Lawsuit You Lost

When is losing a lawsuit not losing a lawsuit?

Case in point: Headline this morning on The WZ.

Dale Gagner Claims WWE Has NOT Won the Lawsuit Against AWA

What caught my attention is that Dale is going by his given name now, not his âgimmick❠of being a distant relative of the Verne Gagne. I think his latest story was that he and Verneâs grandparents were distant cousins.

Anyway, he goes on to claim that the original AWA is not dead. Really? Because I am searching the local Twin Cities airwaves and ESPN for the latest show and I just canât find it. He asserts that WWE HAS NOT won a lawsuit. They got a summary judgment that apparently his âAWA❠had no chance of winning. Huh? Oh, it gets better. As part of a confidential settlement, they disbanded the AWAStars website and replaced it with a new name (Iâm not plugging it). However, it still represents âthe rich history and legend of the AWA sanctioned World titles.

In other words, itâs NOT the AWA. His new logo features a cartoon visage of himself. Dale R. Gagner â” cartoon character.

No, thatâs too easy.

On top of his stress of getting his a$$ handed to him in court, Dale R. Gagner (ooh, a middle initial makes you seem credible) is angered by recent untrue reports. I will let the irony sink in for those who have worked for Mr. Gagner in the past.

He goes on to say, âIt’s important that websites with credibility get their information correct and not second hand. I am always willing to do an interview and confirm the truth.â

Please note that confirming the truth and telling the truth are two different things. Iâm not sayingâ¦Iâm just saying.

FYI, his new promotion is âsanctioned❠by the âAWA.❠That acronym can stand for so much. It features pictures of Mick Foley (under contract to TNA) and Dusty Rhodes (under contract to WWE). The best picture? Dale R. Gagner is standing close to Duane âThe Rock❠Johnson. Not by the âRock,❠just close to. He stood in one place just long enough for some lackey to snap the picture. Mind you, Rocky is looking and gesturing in the other direction while Dale R. Gagner holds his hand out as if to gesture orâ¦

Again, thatâs too easy.

Oh, I donât mean to pick on Dale R. Gagner. Okay, maybe I do. But you gotta love his silly act of defiance. Instead of quietly letting his âAWA❠go quietly into the night and admit defeat, he digs his heels in with a nonsensical statement to the wrestling media. My job as a columnist for The WZ is to point out the nonsensical. Promoters like him who exist on the fringe are sometimes just too damn entertaining for their own good.

Guys like Dale R. Gagner make it too easy.
