SHENANIFANS FEEDBACK

“its sad to see old places like the spectrum go and my old boston garden go too…….110 degree heat so on and so on…i actually got to go to a show in the spectrum…i actually travelled all the way from outside of boston to the 1st ever philly house show for wcw back in 1997 a la nwo days…sold out house and it felt like i was back in the old boston garden….its too bad we lose places like the spectrum and garden cause events in the new buildings are nothing like they were in buildings like these old 2 that are no longer with us…..”

“I grew up in Philly too. them taking down this arena would be like them demolishing Pat’s (they could take Gino’s for all I care), but sadly the PA government does not care about the venue that Philly won its last championship in. I mean they tore down the Vet, and the ECW arena is a joke of its former self. their is just not enough appreciation for these classic venues.”

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Mick Foley just took a shot at Bush during an Edge segment. That would be the president / failed businessman and not the band who brought us such hits as “Comedown” and “Greedy Fly” in the 1990’s. Don’t know why Edge is attacking Mick to get heat with ‘Taker, but hey!

Anyway, the big announcement. Guys, it’s hard for me to say and do this, but this edition of Shenanigans is my penultimate column here on WrestleZone.com. Next week’s will be my last Offbeat Shenanigans, and I will close the book on my writing stint here with WrestleZone.com.

I’d like to thank all of you who have read my ramblings and written in with your feedback — kind, very kind, humorous, critical, or downright nasty. It’s been a great experience writing for you (and for myself), on this, the biggest and best wrestling site on the ‘net. There are some absolutely great columnists who’ve written here alongside me. Glenn Gilbertti’s work has grown on me like orange juice, which I used to hate and have grown to love. There’s plenty of excellent material for all of you here to read. That’s for sure.

Problem is, I’ve just become a little overextended lately. In addition to my work on Pro Wrestling Illustrated, The Wrestler / Inside Wrestling, and Cheap Shot! Philly (local music site I started), I’ve also taken on a recent promotion at my day job. Let’s face it, I haven’t exactly been prolific on here lately, so, after next week’s column, that will be it for me.

I’d like to urge any of you who want to to keep in touch with me to do so at kjmcelvaney@yahoo.com. I’ve enjoyed chatting with many of you, and I’m glad that you’ve gotten some enjoyment out of my columns. You’ve made it all worth it!

So, until my final piece next week, this is it. No mentions of Freddie Prinze or a PG rating, no shots at TNA, and no obscene love stories involving Disco Inferno. I’ll be back next week. Until then, keep enjoying all the crazy swerves the big two have been tossing our way. It’s high times for wrestling, and I’m glad we’ve all kept tuned in.

Thanks again, everybody, for being awesome to me. You’re all fantastic. Have a great weekend, and, till next week…

Kevin McElvaney is also a contributing writer for Pro Wrestling Illustrated and The Wrestler / Inside Wrestling. He expects a big, Ric Flair-styled retirement party next week.
