ECW/Raw Merger Called Off, New Talent to Be Called to TV

The Wrestling Observer newsletter is reporting that the scheduled plans to merge ECW with Raw have now been dropped. It appears the main reason is that Monday night’s are a much more hectic taping day in WWE and adding ECW to the schedule would become too stressful. It would also be difficult for ECW talent to secure house show positions as Raw’s roster is deeper than Smackdown’s.

WWE will soon be calling FCW developmental talent Tyrone Evans to the main roster. Evans has been wrestling under the name Tyrone Jones and is said to be very good on the mic. He is currently working a military gimmick and it is unknown if he will retain that gimmick once he is called to TV. He worked his first match in front a WWE crowd last Monday in a dark match putting over Jamie Noble.
