Offbeat Shenanigans #32
Now that I’ve gotten your attention with the headline, I have nothing else to say about it. Maryse was already in Playboy, like Candice Michelle, Ashley Massaro, and Max Mini were before they began their stints in WWE. A quick search will get those over the age of 18 (21 in some jurisdictions) umm, some results.
I hope you all had a great weekend, Father’s Day, etc. We’re almost at the halfway point for the week, so hang tight.
I was talking to my friend Phil the other day about politics and a bunch of other stuff. Phil proposed the idea that, sometimes, people would rather rally behind one powerful leader (a dictator) because of the problems and inherent complications with various smaller governments. I made the comparison to Vince McMahon sucking up all the territories into the WWF vacuum. Was I way off base?
The McMahon Million Dollar Giveaway is really cool for the people who win, and it doesn’t take up too much airtime, so I like it. I also like the sudden push Lance Cade is getting – the fact that he laid out Cena on Monday’s Raw. It was cool to see the company take a chance with someone different. With Michaels, Taker, Orton, and my favorite, Gregory Helms, all out of commission, there are plenty of big spots to move in to for aspiring mid-carders. (That sentence was probably plagiarized from Jim Ross’ BBQ & Blog.)
TNA is supposed to be staging their Hard Justice pay-per-view in Trenton – and at the arena WWE runs, no less! I am very interested in this scenario and, time and money permitting, I will do my best to be in attendance. I’ve wanted to see a TNA pay-per-view in person for a while now. The first house show they ran at the old ECW Arena was a fantastic time. See TNA live if you get the chance. You don’t have to watch any skits featuring Jeremy Borash at the non-televised events, so it’s all good.
I spoke of Gregory Helms earlier, and, I’ve gotta say…I am really, really hoping that he returns (when he’s ready) in superhero form. In fact, for next week’s column, I’m going to play Tommy Fierro and book Gregory Helms’ return to WWE under his old persona, The Hurricane. Look for that early on next week.
Finally, these columns have been a lot fewer and farther between as of late, and I do regret this. I’m thinking about opening up the column a little more and, perhaps, having a "mailbag" type section, ala Sean O’ Mac.
