Hey wrestling fans! Sean OâMac is back after an extended blackout. Moved into my new home, and although the boxes still remain stacked and scattered in every room, I do now have both my cable Internet and satellite television back in full gear! So, here we go with another edition of Sean OâMacâs Take on Raw.
Tonightâs episode had an unusual main event that was a blast to watch from whatever perspective youâre looking in from. If youâre a hater of either John Cena or Randy Orton, it was fun to watch them get their butts kicked by the entire Raw roster in tonightâs handicap match. If youâre a fan of either, then it was exciting to see how two âmortal enemiesâ can suddenly work so well together for a common purpose – survival.
There were indeed moments that the two looked like a seasoned tag team, covering each otherâs asses and combining efforts for great moves (e.g. Cena picking up one opponent for Orton to hit an elevated RKO.) Well, weâve had Rated RKO. Can you say Thug-KO? Well, perhaps not. Just doesnât quite have that ring to it.
Well, the roster would have none of getting all their butts kicked by this pair, so what remained at one point finally just jumped in and had their way with Orton and Cena. Then, of course, Triple H came out to pick up the pieces and Pedigree them.
Personally, I think the Triple-Threat Takeover turned out pretty well. Itâs been some nice storyline building up to a WrestleMania match that so many fans are fretting over as âthe same olâ thing.â I may be straying from the crowd here, but thatâs what I do. Iâm looking forward to it.
The soon-to-be-retired Ric Flair wasnât going out tonight when he took on the chairman himself, Vince McMahon. Flair took it to the boss right away, but it wasnât long before Vince got the upper hand, using every weapon known to man in this Street Fight. At one point, it appeared heâd have Flair pinned if not for the saving grace of HBK who pulled the ref out of the ring in defiance of Flairâs orders that Michaels stay out of it. This has two words written all over it. âBlow up.â
This pair, friends and comrades who respect each other, are going to WrestleMania to fight – mark my words. It wouldnât surprise me one bit for Flair to get into Shawnâs face again next week, and be met with Sweet Chin Music. And letâs be honest, would you have it any other way?
The show started off with something you know I love, Chris Jericho on a microphone. The Highlight Reelâs guest was The Big Show, who still appears to be an enigma to the crowds. Do they cheer him? Boo him? Well, as Chris pointed out, heâs still (at least in character) a jackass, just not as big of a jackass as Floyd Mayweather. Show minced words for a few moments, but eventually made it clear that he thought of Jericho as the WWEâs version of Mayweather and wanted a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.
My God, whatâs going on here? A title match two weeks in a row? What is the WWE thinking?
After duking it out for a few, however, Y2J resorted to some old ways and grabbed the belt, using it as a weapon. A big right hand from Big Show put an end to that, however. So, is Chris going to revert to his old ways and go heel on us? Either way, I donât really care. Iâm a Y2J fan, and the man is brilliant as both a face and a heel – and probably even better as a heel!
CM Punk and Carlito squared off tonight in a match that, at least for the first half, seemed a bit sloppy. It was as though the two just hadnât found their rhythm in the early going, but they did turn it up a notch in the second half. Punk got the win with the GTS, and at least there were some flashes of elements that will make this yearâs Money in the Bank match exciting.
But now for a slam on the writers. London and Kendrick were one of the best tag teams in recent times, at least when it comes to how long they held the titles. Theyâre exciting, fun to watch, and work well together. So whoâs brilliant idea has it been to turn this duo into jobbers all the sudden, and then have Kendrick walk out on his partner and leave him at Umagaâs mercy?
Pathetic.
Maria and Candice Michelle were in action tonight, defeating Victoria and Jillian Hall. As if anyone really cared about the match – we just like seeing the Divas, right?
Finlay cut a so-so promo about how devastating it is as a parent to watch his child be destroyed by JBL, which was followed by JBL destroying the âsecond-toughest Irishman in the WWE,â Colin Delaney. Hereâs a nice poll question for the week. Despite how small and pathetic Delaney looks next to every Superstar on the roster, how many of you out there think you could take him?
Can you believe it folks? WrestleMania is only 13 days away!
